The Iraqi government condemned the United States’ targeting of Iraqi military facilities at dawn on Tuesday.

"These attacks have already been labeled as hostile acts affecting the sovereignty of the Iraqi State, and it is unacceptable that they were committed under any circumstances or under any name or justification," the Iraqi government said.

The government statement added that "it is a clear, unconstructive hostile act, not in the course of long-term common interests, in establishing security and stability, it works against the stated desire of the US side to strengthen relations with Iraq.”

The Iraqi government has stressed that targeting is a step detrimental to bilateral relations between the two countries and will complicate the ability to reach understandings through joint dialogues.

The targeting reportedly killed a military affiliate and injured 18 others, including civilians.
